Overview

Established in 2014 under MSDE and the Ministry of Textiles, HCSSC is the apex, NCVET-recognized awarding body for India's handicrafts and carpet sector. The council builds a deployable workforce through competency-based, industry-aligned training, ensuring that every artisan and weaver is formally skilled, certified, and recognized.

Key Objectives

Creating a comprehensive skill development plan for the Handicrafts and Carpet sector.

Developing skill competencies based on standardized qualifications.

Capacity building for young artisans and skill upgradation for existing ones.

Developing a Labour Market Information System (LMIS).

Improving training delivery and promoting academies of excellence.
